Fast-Track Delivery for Global Event
UNIMAC played a pivotal role in delivering the infrastructure for the FIA Formula E Championship in Diriyah, acting as the main contractor for a transformative 3.6 km street circuit and all supporting event facilities. The challenge: redesign and build the entire racing and spectator environment—including the E-Village, VIP and hospitality zones, and a helipad—within a condensed 90-day window.
Scope & Execution
The project began with rapid demolition and removal of existing infrastructure, followed by mass excavation of 60,000 m³ of rock. Site preparation included comprehensive flora relocation, emphasizing sustainability even amidst an aggressive schedule. UNIMAC installed detailed drainage and utility networks—totalling over 600,000 m² in stormwater solutions—and delivered high-quality asphalt surfacing optimized for the demands of electric motorsport hardware.
Custom aggregate base courses and precision-laid asphalt were only a portion of the broader site transformation that also featured hardscape and softscape landscaping, public realm improvements, and high-tech event overlays.
Results & Legacy
Despite tight timelines, UNIMAC’s planning and execution secured a flawless launch for the historic first Diriyah E-Prix, setting new benchmarks for motorsport project delivery in the Gulf. The build continues to resonate as a case study for agile delivery, coordination across multiple agencies and disciplines, and an event legacy that enhanced Saudi Arabia’s position as a global sports host.
